Follow me Friday

Sunday morning came, and I woke up at 6:30 that morning.  I quickly and quietly got dressed, and headed out to Manitou Blvd.  Why?  Today, was the second day of the annual Manitou Pikes Peak Marathon race, and I wanted to get pictures of the pre race and beginning.  So here they are with commentary, only as needed.
The mountain, Pikes Peak.  How many will struggle, how many will win?

Manitou Blvd, being closed off for the big run.  All is quiet, except for the guy, with the bull horn.

Runners warming up.

Some spectators watching and waiting,

Doing stretches.

Race Staff and spectators waiting for the beginning of the race.

Manitou Police checking the course.

Racers ready, set...

Go!

Age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind it doesn't matter.  Some silver in with the Brown,

And there they go!

I have no idea where the fire truck was going, or why?

The last runners, perseverance.  Maybe they won?

In all honesty, this is one event I hope to participate in, with-in the next few years.  Just to get to the top of Pike's Peak would be an accomplishment, and for me, being 52 then, and a heart attack survivor, it would be a victory greater than any award.
